One of the army reserve units in the area did a Family Day for their personnel and Kalonji was present to provide information about benefits and ID cards. We were there for almost 5 hours and met some very nice people. In fact, I think I've just become friends with a lady who just moved here from Colombia, South America about a month ago - Kalonji helped her and her husband and children get their ID cards a couple of weeks ago. She speaks very little English and I speak very little Spanish, but we were able to communicate with each other okay and we will both teach each other. :-)
In Kaleya news -- she took her first step on her own Friday night! One step, but hey, it was exciting! It has been amazing being home with her - she truly is inspiring to watch and it is so interesting to watch her process information. She is a smart girl and I can't wait until she starts talking so she can tell me all that's going on in her head.
In stitching news I finally picked up a project again. And of course, new place, new environment means -- NEW PROJECT! I started the Eight Immortals that Kalonji bought for me last month. I decided to do it on Lambswool linen instead of the blue they recommend. I did not want to go for the "in the clouds" look and instead just want to stitch them so I went with a darker fabric. It is going to be gorgeous!
Not much else going on. I am adjusting well I think and still have plenty of unpacking to do! This coming weekend we are going back to Nashville for CATS so I'll get to see my stitching buddies hopefully and meet some TWBB stitchers!
